Before cleaning hardwood floors check to see if there is a wax finish. To do that put a small puddle of water in a corner of the room, check back in 20 min to see if the water looks cloudy. If so, there is a wax finish. If clear there is no wax finish.

For electric drip coffeemakers, if minerals and scale build up from hard water, periodically run a solution of half white vinegar and half water through it to dissolve scale.

To gently and effectively clean your cast iron skillets after most uses, wipe out excess food with a dry paper towel, then sprinkle salt inside the pan. Wipe clean with a clean, dry paper towel. The salt acts as an abrasive to scratch off any stuck-on particles of food without using soap and water, which can remove your seasoning.
